Atlanta Preview

The second points paying weekend of the NASCAR season leads us to the Atlanta Motor Speedway. 39 drivers are in the field for the Ambetter Health 400 on Sunday. William Byron looks to go 2 for 2 on the season as Daniel Suarez looks to defend his win from last year. The Penske cars are strong at the drafting tracks so they are a group to keep an eye out for as well. Joey Logano was the most recent winner at Atlanta as that win helped his bid for the championship. This weekend marks the 2nd weekend of the NASCAR season and it brings us to another drafting track that gives off the vibes of Daytona before it’s repave years ago. This track is like a hybrid superspeedway built on an intermediate track. The field typically starts off as a tight condensed pack but over time spreads out into individual packs like mid 2000s pack racing. Handling matters more at this track than it does at Daytona so it will take more than just a fast car to win. The talk of the week so far has been the aging...

Daytona 500 Review

Another Daytona 500 is in the books and this one had a bit of everything. NASCAR’s Super Bowl was scheduled to start an hour early due to rain but due to some pre race festivities, the race got off to a later than desired start. A few rain delays later, we were able to see what we all tuned in Sunday for. 500 miles of high octane racing, and from start to finish you didn’t know what to expect. However what started as a day of highs ended in a day of frustration for many. Let’s look into it. The race was moved up an hour due to rain, and was scheduled to start however due to a guest appearance by the President of the United States Donald Trump, the race start was delayed. After his pre race festivities ended Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric led the field to green. The urgency level immediately looked high with rain in the area, but it wasn’t for long as the 1st caution of the race fell on lap 11 due to rain. The cars were brought down pit road where they sat and waited out the hours of ...

The Calm Before The Storm

At last we have made it to the final evening before The Great American race. We’ve gone through all of speedweek and now it’s time for the Main event. It’s been an entertaining week so far with a lot of thrills and spills. There’s been a lot of 2-3 wide racing along with crazy finishes and even controversy and it all comes down to tomorrow. We have past champions in the field coming back to make another attempt at the big race. We have champions from other forms of racing making their first start in the race. We even have Dale Jr back in the Daytona 500….sort of. The headlines are everywhere leading into this thing. The grid is set. The teams have made their finishing touches on the cars. The last thing to do is line em up and wake the green flag for 500 miles of racing around the famed Daytona International Speedway. The first thing to note is due to weather the race has been moved up an hour to try to beat the weather from that is coming through sometime tomorrow afternoo...

Cookout Clash Review

Well, the weekend has came and went for the first “unofficial” week of the 2025 NASCAR season and if anything it gave us a pleasant preview of what’s to come this season, which is intense racing. Coming into the weekend I didn’t know what to expect out of Bowman Gray stadium but the place put on a show Sunday evening. There was passing, bump and runs, tempers flaring, drivers even making the outside line work, and a fan favorite in victory lane to cap off the event. Let’s get into what all happened during the Cookout Clash. The night started off with an eventful LCQ that saw Ty Dillion and Zane smith lead the field to the green of the 75 lap race. The two were side by side until Ty gave a bump to Zane smith to move on by. Shortly after Ty Gibbs was able to get to the inside and pass Ty Dillion for the win, immediately followed by contact between Austin Dillion and Ty Dillion. So much for being brothers. In the mist of the chaos Kyle Larson was able to pass multiple cars to move u...

NASACR IS BACK!

Finally after a long offseason, we officially have cars back on the track as NASCAR returns this weekend for the Cookout Clash at Bowman Gray stadium, otherwise known as #themadhouse. This is the first Cup race to be held at the stadium since 1971. 39 drivers are set to compete in heat races for 20 spots on Saturday, with a last chance qualifier on Sunday that will lock in 2 more drivers for the big show. There will then be one more spot given to the highest finishing driver in 2024 points that was not locked in via heats or LCQ. This race gives us the opportunity to see some faces in new places as well as the first chance to see cars on track in a competitive environment for the 2025 season. Let’s take a dive into the weekend ahead. First of all let’s talk about the track itself. Bowman gray is a quarter mile asphalt flat oval track, that has a football field in the middle of it. The track is located in Winston- Salem North Carolina, and is the home of Winston-Salem universit...
