Coke 600 shenanigans

What was supposed to have been the longest race of the NASCAR season turned into a rain shortened event, and the biggest story of the weekend and the month of May all together with Kyle Larson running the double really ended up with Kyle Larson running only a single race and it wasn’t the NASCAR race, and that also has led to controversy in the industry. Let’s jump into it.      For starters this car once again showed that it excels on the 1.5 mile tracks and that is something that probably won’t change for some time. The racetrack itself is also starting to age and add character with its hot and slick surface that kept drivers on...

All star Shenanigans

What started off as a chaotic weekend ended as a crazy scene of events that I believe shenanigans is the best word.North Wilksboro has had its interesting moments over its history and already more memories in a small sample size as NASCAR just came back in qualifying.           The big story coming into the weekend is Kyle Larson attempting to run both of Indy 500 and the Coke 600. He does seem like a normal favorite to win in the 600, but Larson has been flying as well. He is not only starting P5 in the Indy 500, he is also one of the fastest in NASCAR as he was charging through the All Star race field all night to get P4.        Qualifying was finished for the All star but not the open due to rain which would have Ty Gibbs and Alex Bowman on the front row. Chase Briscoe and Bubba would make up row two of the open. It didn’t take long for ty to build up a lead and for Bubba to take second as they had the two s...

The Perfect Combination For Nascar

Image
We came into Sunday anticipating a crazy race that would see excitement, chaos, strategy, and more importantly pure racing. After about a 3 hour rain delay and 400 miles plus overtime I would have to say that was probably the best race I’ve seen at least in this car. The passing was there. The side by side was there, we even went 5 wide at points of this race. We had comers and goers and strategy. Battles all over the race track all day along with a changing track with the weather forcing this to be a day to night transition race. What’s even crazier about all of what I just said is , that all got overshadowed by what is now the closest finish in NASCAR history and even has people debating if this finish was better than Darlington in 2003 (that’s a no for me).       This race started with Christopher Bell and Ross Chastain on the front row and while they were as eager as the rest of us to start this race, Mother Nature had other plans as we had to wait...

Kansas is a much needed stop on the schedule

Image
It’s the first weekend of May and NASCAR is rolling into Kansas Speedway fresh off of multiple races that have left more to be desired. We have been running at short tracks, superspeedways, and even a road course in the last two months and those tracks haven’t produced the greatest racing compared to older generations of cars, where in comparison we are now heading to a race track that has arguably put on the race of the year ever since running this generation of car. There’s been drama about the racing package and the negotiations with teams on a new charter deal so it’s good to get to a race track that has shown spectacular racing over the past few years.  A view of cars flying by the start finish line  (Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty Images)      I often joke and call Kansas a superspeedway because of the way that it races and because of the insane crashes had over the years but this is because I believe this is the best 1.5 mile track on the...
